JOJO Handmade Art: Chinese Textile Craft, Reimagined for Today

JOJO Handmade Art is a contemporary textile studio founded by artist and educator Qiao Shuang in Nanjing, China. What began in 2013 as a small handmade studio has grown into a creative world of patchwork, embroidery, fiber art, handcrafted objects, and museum-scale textile works. Qiao has spent years studying Chinese textile traditions, embroidery, patchwork, and fiber art, while also training internationally in Japan, France, and Germany, including French couture embroidery at LESAGE, the embroidery atelier associated with CHANEL’s Métiers d’Art, and etc.

Her work brings traditional Chinese craft into a contemporary language. Instead of treating heritage as something distant or old-fashioned, JOJO makes it feel alive, tactile, and personal. A landscape can become a patchwork wall piece. A classical flower-and-bird image can become an embroidered fan. A handcrafted bag can feel less like an accessory and more like a small collectible artwork.
